Sixty years of faithful service by the Rotary Club of Abercarn and Newbridge to the local community and individuals and charitable organisations in Wales and overseas were marked by a special dedication service at Newbridge Vision Centre, part of the Tabernacle church complex.

The club finally closed the curtain on its activities in 2019 but its good work will not be forgotten because its honours board will now be put on permanent display in the Tynewydd Room at the centre.

During the service led by the Revd. Peter Cho, former members were reminded of the club’s proud past by Mr Allan Sharpe and there was also a video presentation of old photographs illustrating how the club had lived up to the Rotary motto of being a “people of action”. Michael Gray read the Scriptures.

Some of the members have  joined the Blackwood Rotary Club which has  taken over the Abercarn and Newbridge district so the good work of Rotary continues in the area.
