TOP EVANGELIST VISITS TABERNACLE

International  evangelist  David Hathaway will be visiting Tabernacle this month as part of his ministry programme in the United Kingdom and Europe. Mr. Hathaway will be speaking at a series of meetings over the weekend 14 – 16 November.

He started his ministry more than 60 years ago and, since being imprisoned in Czechoslovakia in 1972 for smuggling bibles into Soviet bloc countries, he has sought to share the good news of Jesus especially to Russian holocaust survivors in Israel and the former Soviet satellite countries.

 TIME FOR A FAITH BREAKTHROUGH

Jesus never commended people for their ability, achievements or for the things they possessed but he did commend them for their faith.  Just read that great chapter, Hebrews 11, and you will see that “by faith” Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Rahab, Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel and the prophets all received an honourable mention. We live in a secular, materialistic society in which we need faith in God to be restored and to flourish… in short, we all need a faith breakthrough! How can that happen? Well, just read your Bible. The whole Bible is the inspired Word of God written to break down unbelief and to build up our fortifications of trust in God. It can be studied academically for doctrine and prophecy but its main aim is to bring us the peace of perfect rest in God. Why not look for some “breakthrough” Bible verses, commit them to memory or write them down and then pray about them? Here are just a few to get you started: “It is high time to awake” (Rom 13:1) “Be not conformed to the world, but transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Rom 12:2)                     “And Abraham believed God and… he was called the friend of God” (James 2:23) “Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark….” (Philippians 3:13-14) The Bible never seeks to excuse itself for repeating exhortations to “Trust in the Lord” (Proverbs 3:5). The only constant in life is change and every day we need to be reminded to put our trust in God and our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. (Based on selected passages from “FAITH – The Link with God’s Power” by Reinhard Bonnke (Sovereign World Ltd, 1999).

A resident discusses the Newbridge plans with council officers.

THE latest regeneration proposals for Newbridge town centre were put on display to the public at Tabernacle recently. The next phase regeneration programme is due to get underway in the near future. Residents, businesses and town centre users had the opportunity to view and comment on the proposals. Regeneration officers from the council were on hand to discuss the plans in person. The next phase (Phase 3) of the regeneration proposals include a series of environmental enhancements to the eastern corridor of the town, along lower High Street, Bridge Street towards Newbridge School and Leisure Centre, and the transformation of an area of land under the A472 Trecelyn Viaduct.

The Newbridge Regeneration Programme is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Welsh Government.
