SPRINGING INTO LIFE
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10
The weather may be cold, wet and windy but what a joy it is to see the first daffodils bursting through the winter-ravaged soil.
Spring is such a glorious time. It is a time of rebirth, new beginnings, and fresh starts. It is a time of growth, a time of beauty, and most of all a time of life. Being out there in it helps to stir the life and joy within us as well. It awakens our spirits, warms our hearts, enlightens our minds, energizes our bodies, and uplifts our souls. It makes us aware of just how precious each day is and just how priceless each moment of our lives can be. It shows us again that life is for living and for loving – not just for existing.
David wrote Psalm 51 after his sinful episode with Bathsheba. Nathan the prophet came and told David that he had done wrong. At first, David did not say that he was sorry but then he confessed and wrote this “penitential” psalm asking God for forgiveness and vowing that he would sin no more. Psalm 51 is one of the seven penitential psalms that are often sung during Lent – the 40 days before Easter. The other six are Psalms 6, 32, 38, 102, 130 and 143.
Christians are “born again” or “new people” because God has created them again. The spirit in verses 10 means the Holy Spirit, another name for God. It is the part of God that He puts into us when we become Christians.
Pray that this year’s springtime adds a spring to our own steps as well. Our hope is that the new life bursting forth in nature awakens us to the endless life in our own souls. Our hope is that all the new growth and new beginnings around us help us to choose new growth in love and new beginnings in joy in our own lives.
Thank God for this wondrous glory of creation that He created and for His wonderful gift of salvation and new life through the Lord Jesus Christ.

THANK THE LORD!
We continue to be amazed at the way God is providing for us as our major £800,000 redevelopment project of the Rear Building at Tabernacle nears its completion. The current estimate is that the building will be handed back to the church by the contractors in mid- April. Then it will be all systems to go to ensure the impressive new facilities are used to the maximum benefit of the local community and the church.
We plan to hold a number of “Open Days” so that the people of Newbridge can see what is now being made available to them and, God willing, an Official Opening will be arranged for the end of the year or early in 2018.
Please thank God for the hard-working project team, led by Luke Hurley, and for the Welsh Government, Caerphilly County Borough Council and all the other organisations, members and friends who have supported us so generously to date.
