Christ can make you whole!

Luke 4: 16-21

As part of their Religious Studies course, a class of secondary school pupils were asked to summarise in a sentence or two what the miracles of Jesus were all about. One boy’s answer was simple and, yet, profound: “Jesus took broken people and made them whole people.”

Here are just a couple of examples.

Mary and Martha were grieving … their brother Lazarus was dead … Jesus said, “Your brother will rise again … I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11:23, 25). And Jesus proceeded to raise Lazarus from the dead. Many of us who have lost believing loved ones can take great comfort from the knowledge that, at His coming, Jesus will raise to life all those who have come to Him in faith.

The 10 lepers were captive to their debilitating disease and shunned by society. Jesus freed them by healing them from their terrible affliction.(Luke 17: 11-19).

Matthew 4:16 says of Jesus: “The people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.”

That describes each and everyone of us before Jesus came into our lives as Saviour and Lord and light replaced the spiritual darkness in which we had been living.

Mary Magdalene was grieving, then she saw the empty tomb, and then saw Jesus: “Master!” she cried, then raced to tell the disciples: “I have seen the Lord.” (John 20) Seeing the resurrected Son of God gave her gladness instead of mourning. She became wrapped in a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.

Whatever oppression you may be under, Jesus is willing and ableto remove that from you. Jesus takes broken people and makes them whole again. Let Him do that for you today.

SCHOOL CHILDREN GET A TASTE OF LIFE

More thane 400 primary school children from the Newbridge, Abertillery and Bargoed areas visited a week-long Counties Life Exhibition at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Newbridge.

Hosted by  Beulah and Tabernacle churches, the interactive, mobile exhibition has been developed by Counties, a UK-based Christian charity, and focuses on the life of Jesus. The aim is to help the children understand what Christians believe about Jesus and enable them to question and explore the various issues surrounding His life as well as considering His impact in today’s world.

The exhibition, run by Initiatives in Christian Education (ICE) Wales and local volunteers, also built on existing links between schools and local churches.

Apart from the school children, about 100 other visitors attended the exhibition during the week.

Pictured (below) at the official opening of the exhibition are: (from left) Christine Thomas, director, ICE Wales; Martin Buckley, Life Exhibition co-ordinator; the mayor of Caerphilly County Borough Council, Coun.
