ANOTHER SUMMER SPECTACULAR!
Our sixth Summer Bible Club for children and young people aged from 5-15 was a great success thanks to Pastor Peter, Hyeran, our faithful team of home volunteers and, of course, the super-enthusiastic 40-strong group from the Antioch church, Philadelphia in the United States.
Nearly 100 children attended during the four- day event from 26-29 July and a special blessing this year was to see four other Baptist churches – Bethesda, Rogerstone; Moriah, Risca, Mount Pleasant, Blackwood and Blaenau Gwent, Abertillery – sharing in the initiative by holding similar events from 1-3 August.The Bible club was rounded off with a presentation and party attended by many parents and grandparents. The church was praised for its ongoing commitment to serve children and young people in the community and to teach them about the Lord Jesus Christ.
A big thank-you to all who supported the events financially and in many other practical ways.

ARISE AT NEWBRIDGE AND SIX BELLS
Tabernacle joined forces with Bethany Baptist Church, Six Bells in a series of practical evangelism training and outreach sessions from 9-17 July. A group of South Korean delegates who had attended an Amnos Ministeries Arise Training Camp at Brentwood, Essex arrived in the Western Valley to share their experiences with Tabernacle and Bethany members and undergo further training together under the guidance of Dr Daniel Chae, Amnos executive director.
The Rev Simeon Baker, director of mission, Baptist Union of Wales, who attended several of the sessions, said it was exciting to see the churches actively involved in outreach.It was an initiative which he hoped other churches in Wales would follow.
Tabernacle pastor Peter Cho and Bethany pastors Olwen and Gareth Clatworthy said they were encouraged by a number of positive responses to the Gospel following the practical door-to-door work in each community.

GOD IS STILL ON HIS THRONE
“Finally pray for us, brothers and sisters that the Lord’s message may spread quickly and be honoured as in fact it was among you” (2 Thessalonians 3:1)
Recent events in the United Kingdom and the world at large have shown once again that it is foolish to place our full confidence in political leaders, business leaders and, sadly from time to time, church leaders. We humans have a great capacity to get things wrong even if our motives may be worthy!
How refreshing it is, then, to remind ourselves of that wonderful chorus:
God is still on the throne,
And He will remember His own;
Tho’ trials may press us and burdens distress us,
He never will leave us alone;
God is still on the throne,
He never forsaketh His own;
His promise is true, He will not forget you,
God is still on the throne.
The Apostle Paul underlines for us in 2 Thessalonians 3 that he and his fellow workers’ confidence lay not in human plans, promotion, programmes or human personalities but in the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. Their confidence for whatever they might need and face in spreading the Gospel was an unending trust in the provision and faithfulness of the Lord and His powerful Word. Jesus said emphatically: “I will build my church and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.” While God uses frail human instruments in accomplishing His work on earth, its ultimate accomplishment depends on the work and faithfulness of the Lord and His Word.
The tendency today is to be quick to plan and act rather than pray, wait on the Lord, and then in God’s timing and leading, work in His strength and provision. Paul, by any measure, was a great servant of the Lord but he recognized his own inadequacy and the need for God’s enabling power. That is why he not only prayed himself but humbly sought the prayer support of others. We need to follow his example.
SERVICE OF WELCOME
Moriah Baptist Church, Risca will be holding a Service of Welcome and Recognition on the calling of their new Assistant Pastor, Mr Tim Moody, on Saturday 3rd September 2016 at 3pm followed by a Welcome Tea.To assist in catering, the church has asked for all planning to attend to give them numbers by no later than Sunday, 28th August.
